US FDA moves to require front-of-pack labels
The FDA is advancing a rule that would require a front-of-pack 'Nutrition Info' box rating saturated fat, sodium and added sugars as Low / Med / High. Proposed in early 2025, a final rule is expected during 2026.
Once finalized, products sold in the US will need redesigned front labels after a compliance period (expected 3 years for larger firms, 4 for smaller ones).
High-sodium products like instant noodles and ready meals are likely to carry a 'High' flag on the front — worth planning lower-sodium recipes or label design responses early.
