Singapore's Nutri-Grade labelling extends to noodles, sauces and seasonings
Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) is extending mandatory Nutri-Grade labelling and advertising restrictions to high-sodium and high-saturated-fat food groups. The rule covers 23 sub-categories of salt, sauces, seasonings, instant noodles and cooking oil (SSSIO) — instant noodles are explicitly named.
Products are graded A through D based on sodium (or saturated fat) content; C- and D-graded items must carry the Nutri-Grade mark on front-of-pack packaging and online listings. D-graded products are barred from advertising entirely, online and offline.
Announced in April 2025, the rule takes effect from mid-2027. Exporters shipping instant noodles or sauces to Singapore should start reviewing sodium levels and estimating their grade now.
